Jo hona hai, wahi hota hai,

Kisliye tadapta hai, kyu rota hai?

Logo ke baad yaade reh jati hai,

Tu yaado me dil kyu dubota hai?

Khyaal kisi ke aur saath kisi ke?

Tera badan yaha, dil kaha khota hai?

Haqiqat teri tu behtar jaanta hai,

Fir jhuthe sapne kyu sanjota hai?

Dekh bahar savera ho gaya?

Aur 'khalid' tu abhi tak sota hai?

हक़ीक़त तेरी तू बेहतर जानता है, 

फिर झूठे सपने क्यों संजोता है?

देख बाहर सवेरा हो गया? 

और 'ख़ालिद' तू अभी तक सोता है?

کس لیے تڑپتا ہے، کیوں روتا ہے؟

لوگوں کے بعد یادیں رہ جاتی ہیں،

تو یادوں میں دل کیوں ڈبوتا ہے؟

خیال کسی کے اور ساتھ کسی کے؟

ترا بدن یہاں، دل کہاں کھوتا ہے؟

حقیقت تری تو بہتر جانتا ہے،

پھر جھوٹے سپنے کیوں سنجوتا ہے؟

دیکھ باہر سویرا ہو گیا؟

اور 'خالد' تو ابھی تک سوتا ہے؟
